Essence of the Unbeknownst
she ruined us;
crumbled our shaky foundation
with the wrecking ball of her fiery keystrokes.
she wished me well;
summoned up every ounce of good will she could find
and made me believe the twisted chaos of her truthful lies.
she took aim;
caught me between the eyes
and preyed upon the weakness of a fragile heart.
she was a beast of all sorts;
unsuspecting, unyielding, under attack
as if every word proved the last, and shock was all but to say the least.
she wishes she hadn't done it;
and meaningless words on a screen written with utmost sympathy for my loss of love,
cannot concentrate my thoughts to push bewildered astonishment aside and bring to close a clarity of sorts.
and every night I lie awake;
in the dark pit I like to call my mind
and replay every text, and every touch,
until my exhaustion arrests me from the cold earth.
